Cassange Lagoon is about 8 km long, according to INEMA, and partly surrounded by well-preserved restinga (coastal scrub). It is on the Maraú Peninsula, near Cassange beach, and is part of the Camamu Bay protected area.
Why go
The appeal is the contrast: on one side the lagoon, with calm, dark water; on the other the open sea. It is one of the most photographed spots on the peninsula and a good option for days when the tide does not suit the natural pools.
Precautions
- Do not walk into the restinga off the trails: the vegetation protects the lagoon.
- Bring insect repellent: lagoons and restinga attract mosquitoes in the late afternoon.
- Check the depth before swimming and do not jump from high places.
Practical tips
- Combine the lagoon and Cassange beach on the same day.
- Bring insect repellent for the late afternoon.
