Why the tide runs the itinerary
Low tide: time for the natural pools
On the Maraú Peninsula, the best part of the day depends on the tide. It uncovers the reefs of Taipu de Fora and changes the look of the beaches and the bay.
- 1 Check the tide tableThe Brazilian Navy publishes tide forecasts for the ports along the coast. Look up the time and height of the day's low tide.
- 2 Arrive before low tideThe pools appear when the tide is low. Arriving a little early gives you time to enjoy them at a relaxed pace.
- 3 Head back when the tide risesAs the tide comes in, the pools disappear and the water gets deeper. Do not stay on the reefs.
