Editorial policy, sources and methodology
The rules we follow to write, check and update the guide.
Updated on October 7, 2026 ✓ Information verified on October 5, 2026 adapted version of the Portuguese original
Principles
- We do not make things up. Dates, times, prices, distances and business details only go in with a source. When we are not sure, the information is left out or comes with a note asking you to check it.
- Primary sources first. We give preference to the Maraú City Hall, INEMA (which manages the Camamu Bay protected area), the Brazilian Navy, the Bahia State Government, IBGE (the Brazilian statistics institute) and the official websites of attractions. Secondary sources, such as the press and encyclopedias, are used with caution and always identified.
- Transparency. Every page shows the date of its last update and the sources consulted, with the date they were checked.
- No invented experiences. We do not write “we visited” or “we tested”. The content is editorial and informative.
Sea, wind and environmental rules
The natural pools, the bay boat trip and the crossings depend on the tide, the sea and the rules set by the authorities. We do not promise calm water, visibility or boat schedules. We explain what affects each trip and point to the official sources, such as the Brazilian Navy and INEMA, so you can check the rules in force on your travel dates.
Prices
Prices only appear when read on an official channel, with the source and the date checked. Prices of tours and services change often: always confirm before booking.
Conflicting sources
When sources disagree, for example about the length of a beach or the origin of a name, we point out the disagreement or use the most cautious wording.
Business directory and advertising
- Businesses are only listed with a verifiable public source, shown on each item.
- We do not publish phone or WhatsApp numbers.
- Sponsorship and advertising, when they exist, are always labeled and do not change the editorial text.
Other sites by the same publisher
The same publisher runs other travel guides, including the Rio Brazil Guide, about the city of Rio de Janeiro, and the Trancoso Guide, also in southern Bahia. Each guide covers its own destination; when a topic belongs to another destination, we link to the corresponding guide instead of repeating the content.
Translations
The versions in other languages are adaptations of the Portuguese original, reviewed for readers of each language. The facts and sources are the same. Unreviewed machine translation is not published.
Photos
We only use freely licensed photos, with the author and license shown in the photo album. Where there is no licensed photo of a place yet, the site uses its own graphic illustrations.
