Ilha da Pedra Furada is a small island in Camamu Bay. According to Wikivoyage, its name (“holed rock island”) comes from a large rock with a hole worn through it by erosion. The island has a freshwater spring and a beach with reefs.
How to visit
The island is one of the usual stops on the bay boat trips that leave from Barra Grande. Whether you stop there, and for how long, depends on the tide and the operator: confirm the route before you pay.
Precautions
- Wear shoes on the rocks and reefs.
- Do not take shells, corals or stones: the island is inside the Camamu Bay protected area.
Practical tips
- Ask when you board whether Pedra Furada is on the day's route.
